Ingredients

  • 1 cup ricotta
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 3/4 teaspoon oregano
  • 3/4 teaspoon basil
  • 3/4 teaspoon parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 lb. ground beef-style Italian sausage
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 3/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 (24 oz.) jars marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 40 oz. refrigerated ravioli, uncooked
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350° F.
  • Combine ricotta, beaten egg, parmesan, and dried herbs in a medium bowl; set aside.
  • Spread one heaping cup of marinara sauce on the bottom of a 9x13-inch casserole dish.
  • In a large pot over medium-high heat, cook ground beef, sausage, and onions until browned.
  • Drain excess grease, then stir in garlic, Worcestershire, Dijon, tomato paste, and Italian seasoning.
  • Add remaining marinara sauce and chicken broth, simmering for 5 to 8 minutes.
  • Place half of the uncooked ravioli in the dish.
  • Top with half of the meat sauce, then dollop the ricotta mixture evenly over the top.
  • Add the remaining ravioli and the rest of the meat sauce.
  • Finish by spreading the shredded mozzarella cheese over the top.
  • Cover with foil sprayed with cooking spray and bake for 35 minutes.
  • Remove foil and broil at 450° F for 3 minutes to brown the cheese.
  • Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Ensure the bottom of the pan is well-coated with sauce to prevent the ravioli from sticking. Use a spray of oil on the underside of your foil to ensure the melted cheese does not cling to it during the baking process. Allow the lasagna to rest for the full 10 minutes to help the layers set for easier slicing.
